If I create a partition to install Linux on my PS3, will I still be able to access the 'PS3 Operating System'?

I'd really like to install Linux on my PS3, but I don't want to get rid of the PS3 'firmware/OS' and the XMB.

Can I install Linux and toggle between 'PS3' %26amp; 'Linux' as my operating system? Or does installing Linux overwrite everything on the disk and work as the main (and only) operating system?

Yes, you can. That's why PS3 has "Install other OS" option. On start-up it'll ask, which one to run. Note: prior to installation - backup your data, get USB keyboard.
Reply:Yes,it will ruin ur disk if u do that.
Reply:Yes you can switch back and forth. All you have to do is turn the ps3 off, and when turning it on hold the button for 5 sec until you hear a beep. Save all data on hard drive before installing, will erase all data.
