How to you get the internet on Ubuntu Linux?

I can't access the internet on ubuntu from my Computer. When I boot into Linux, I will try to connect to my wireless router. I enter all of the data (WEP key and the name of the Network) but it always keeps asking for the same information ALL THE TIME. No matter how many times I enter this information, it doesn't connect. So, does it need a Ethernet cable to plug into the router, or can it access my wireless card integrated in my PC.

Do you have the correct drivers for your wireless access card installed ? In my experience, I have had to install the windows drivers using a NDIS wrapper in order to connect.
