How many different Linux OS are there?

I have heard of lots of different Linux OS like Ubunto and Mandriva.

Im pretty computer savy so which one do you think fits me best?

Also, are Linux able to play Windows games or run windows applications?

There are scores of Linux distributions. View many of them at http://distrowatch.com/.

Some folks (not me, because I am such a Linux newbie) would say that Windows users are not computer savvy; Windows users are merely Windows savvy.

All the modern "popular/mainstream" Linux distributions are quite GUI-centric. The most "popular" ones are quite good at automatically detecting and configuring hardware on modern-day computers. Installation is generally a breeze.

Try each one until you find the one that suits you best. It'll be plenty of fun (if you're a patient, inquisitive, positive person).

Plus, Linux distributions come with so much software! It's astounding!

Reply:I use SuSE Linux pretty good. :D
Reply:Ubuntu would be the most user user friendly one, but have a try of a few and see which you like.

Linux wont run Windows games or apps - only Windows will - Windows is proprietary software as are the apps that run on it.
